Science Museum of Minnesota

When I was younger, in high school and junior high, I would visit the Science Museum of Minnesota several times a year with my family. Back then there was a small theater called the Chimera Theater that was located inside the science museum. My family had season tickets to the Chimera theater so before the show and during intermissions I had a little time to explore the museum. It has been about 30 years since I had last visited the museum, that is why when my employer set up to have a company party at the museum I decided to take advantage of a free ticket. Even though I am not much of a party person, I guess that I am much more comfortable out in the woods, I thought that it would be fun to go back and check out the museum.
Things have changed quite a bit since I was last at the museum. First of the museum itself has moved from the middle of downtown into a new building built of the bluffs of the Mississippi River in downtown. The new building has places with plenty of height to accommodate some of the larger exhibits.
At the time of the party the museum was hosting an exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It would have been interesting to see but since it was not covered under our general admission and I had plenty of other things to see I decided to just stick with the general museum exhibits.
The museum no longer has a theater inside, I do not believe that the Chimera Theater has been in existence for many years, but instead they have a lot of interactive activities that are fun for kids of all ages. They had interactive exhibits on weather, anatomy and more.
As we adjourned to the party room to eat, drink and socialize, the rain outside stopped and we could see a rainbow forming from the party room balcony.

Sounds like a fun - a brief interlude from your norm, a trigger of hopefully wonderful memories - and now you can return to your quiet life and restore your energies after stretching your limits. ~karen

That weather station looks pretty cool. I always enjoy visiting museums. It's a wonderful break from the everyday chaos. Great shots.

Seems like you have fond memories of the theater. :)
I'm not much of a party person too but I totally would go if I had the same photo opportunity as you did. Love the dinosaur exhibits. Definitely worth the time. You got rewarded with a nice viewing of the rainbow too. What a fruitful day!

This looks like a wonderful museum especially for kids. Interactive activities makes it so much more interesting than the usual museum.

What a great post! I'm no party person either but would have loved to see the museum and the Dead Sea scrolls. That little touch of nostalgia with your childhood memories made your post even more memorable for me.

Thanks for the preview of your wonderful museum. I feel inspired to visit our museum now to see how much it has changed since I took my kids there about a million years ago!
