A Rare Gyrfalcon Flies Free

Those of you who guessed that the bird in yesterday's photo was a gyrfalcon were correct. Gyrfalcons are pretty rare and I was lucky to get the opportunity to photograph one last week. This was a lifer for me. Here is the bird as it flew free after being released. I will have more pictures, a fun story and some more info about gyrfalcons in a larger post tomorrow.

  6. Well done, nothing better to frame your view of the sky with than a beautiful bird flying free. My family are all into wildlife rescue and we have all kinds of big birds visiting from time to time, always a special day when they get released to do what they enjoy most, flying free.
