Watery Wednesday: Crabs

While we were in Hawaii I spent a lot of time photographing creatures in the different tide pools that I found. Some of the pics that I took I posted in the Hanauma Bay post I did yesterday but I also managed to find several different types of crabs. Now I don't really know much about crabs, other then people other then me like to dunk their legs in butter, so I can not really tell you what type of crabs that they are but maybe one of the helpful readers can enlighten us.

    Those are neat little creatures. I don't know what they are and I don't eat them. I really find the blueish one interesting....Michelle

    I've only seen crabs like this once and didn't get good shots of them. These are great. Must have been cool to see them crawling around. :-)

    I couldn't venture a guess. We have stone crabs down here, and blue crabs too.

    Not sure about the top photos -- they may even be molts -- but I recognize the crabs in the bottom two photos. They are known by the common name Sally Lightfoot crabs (Grapsus tenuicrustatus). They are the most commonly seen crab along rocky shorelines in Hawaii.
