How about some sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale) for this weeks Today's Flowers. I am guessing that the autumnale portion of the scientific name is no coincidence since these things bloom like crazy in the late summer and early Autumn. I photographed this flower at Purgatory Creek.
A great flower for late season colour. I don't know why it's called sneezeweed though as it isn't known to create that reaction (not a common allergen).
ReplyDeleteOh my! The flower is lovely.. so is the shot. It's beautiful. =) Nice capture!
ReplyDeleteHere's my entry. Hope you could visit, too..

Lovely flowers with an unfortunate name! But the place where they grow has also got a forbidding name:)
ReplyDeleteI can see how these flowers look like they could produce alot of pollen to create sneezes.
ReplyDeleteBut the weed part is not fitting, they look beautiful to me.
This is a great garden plant that is under used around here. Also comes in an orange and red version.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Amazing to find a bright, sunny, beautiful flower at a place called 'Purgatory Creek'!
ReplyDeleteWoof! I knew there is something good in purgatory. Maybe some dogs live there too.
ReplyDeleteQue amarelo intenso! Simplesmente lindo!
