I think that it is cool when I see egrets perched in trees. When we have visited places like Florida it was fairly common to see them perched in trees, especially around rookeries, but here in Minnesota we usually only see them wading through the shallows or rivers, ponds, lakes or other wetlands. This great egret, that I photographed near the Old Cedar Ave Bridge, looked very nice set off against the bright blue morning sky.
Such a gorgeous bird and so perfect against that BLUE sky! Hope you have a great weekend!

Nice shot. The only place I've seen egrets in trees near here is at a special rookery in Mendocino County. So many birds are in the trees that it looks like the trees have big, puffy flowers in them.
ReplyDeleteGreat contrasts in your shot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect sky watch. That lovely snow white bird against the blue sky is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo! Nice contrast between the stark white bird and blue blue sky! It is quite common to see them everywhere down here in Florida. So cool that you saw this in Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteYou should look at the picture on "Barrier Island Girl" blog. The two together are breathtaking!

ReplyDeleteThere is a whole nest of Great Egrets in Fergus Falls, MN, on a small island in a park just in town. If you are ever in the area, it is a must. There are over 40 egrets and several cormorants who nest there. The babies haven't hatched yet, but that will be a wonderful site to see. So if you are coming up this way for fishing opener, be sure to stop in Fergus Falls. The park is called Adams Park....its the one with the huge Otter statue. I've posted a few Great Egrets as of late on my blog, but I still have more images to go through.
ReplyDeletethat is a beautiful shot!
