Skywatch Friday

This weeks Skywatch pic was taken in Yellowstone National Park back in May of 2007.
When we traveled out to Yellowstone, back in 2007, it was fairly warm that year. Most of the snow was gone except from the higher elevations. When we woke up, on the morning that we were leaving to come home, we found everything coated with a fresh blanket of snow. On our way out of the park we stopped to take this shot. As you can see much of the snow had already melted in the couple of hours it took to get from West Yellowstone to Swan Lake Flatts. On our 2008 trip there was quite a bit of snow still covering the ground through out the park.

The beauty of Yellowstone and Nature. It looks like it is spring-time. That's a great time of the year to go. There's less people in the backcountry, plants and animals are emerging from a long winters sleep, and the magic of snow blanketing the landscape make moments like the one in your photo priceless.

I hope they will forbid the use of snow mobiles in the park again...It is so pretty there, it should be left quiet...
