Circle of Life

Lat year when we went to Texas we spent a few days on South Padre Island. Each morning I would get up early, and since I liked to let Michelle sleep in I would head out to the beach to take a walk. It was really interesting to see all of the things that would wash up in the high tide and get stranded on the beach. Some of the wildlife could crawl back to the water and some could live long enough for the water to get back to them. Other wildlife, like jellyfish, perished. This was kind of sad, however the dead jellyfish became sustenance for the gulls who came looking for food each morning. So in a way their death became life, which is the way of the universe.

You're right, and that is one happy-looking gull, too. I love the sun on its feathers, and the reflection in the wet sand. There's nothing quite as wonderful as an ocean for diversity of life. (Spoken by an old west coast girl living on the prairie.)
