I was able to get a Viceroy the other day. First one this year. I do have several Monarchs around now. The ones you have here look new as I see no damage to their wings.
I have had a chance to see them up close at our various monarch nesting locations along the California coast (indeed, I lived in Santa Cruz for a while, not far from on the main overwinter groves).
