Big Bog State Park

Earlier this summer I headed up to the Big Bog Sate Recreational Area to help do on Odonata survey. I was pretty excited because I was hoping to see some cool dragons. Unfortunately the Big Bog is located in one of the few places in Minnesota that has had issues with drought. While we were allowed to go off the board walk that runs through the bog we did not see any open water and as you can see from the picture above everything was pretty dry. I will have top take a trip up there again next summer when it will hopefully be wet like it normally is.

Maybe fewer mosquitoes there this year?

This is a lovely soft gray-and-light-blue sky. The sky looks like a watercolor painting. I hope the drought throughout most of the US ends soon! We're experiencing it here, to in northern California.

Like naming a park after a huge lake that's all dried up I guess ..

Even if the area is dry is this photo beautiful. It looks very calm!
