Uh-oh. Now you're in for Kay's Merlin Falcon Story. (Great photo, but you get the story anyway.) I opened the door to our deck one morning during our first summer in this house, and found the deck covered in the heads, wings, tails and feet of songbirds. A pair of Merlins and their youngster were using the big shade trees above our deck for their dining room. I screamed, they flew away, and they never came back here to eat, although I've heard the distinctive Merlin cry many times in the years since. (This is the edited, abridged version of the story with most of the screaming and cussing deleted in case children or susceptible adults read your blog comments.) It really is a wonderful photo. — K

Great photo, the falcon has a very expressive face.
(I enjoyed reading Kay's comment, too.)
