OK, so I do not know much about types of flowers but I am hoping that participating in Today's Flowers will help me to learn. So my plan is to post flower pics that I took and instead of identifying the flower and digging up a lot of info, like I do with birds and bugs, I am hoping that people from the meme might respond in the comment section and tell me what type of flower and maybe even a little bit about it. That way I and anyone else reading my blog might get a little more knowledgeable about flowers and plant life.
I took this picture back in August at the Carpenter Nature Center. I took the picture because of the Monarch but the flower really helps to make this a special pic. It is so colorful and beautiful.

Great picture. The combination is perfect!
Looks like a beautiful Monarch (HAH) on a zinnia to me. The funny thing is I find butterflies all over my zinnias all summer. Never found zinnia listed as a flower that attracts butterflies. I understand it isn't a host plant but they sure do enjoy it while in bloom.
Gorgeous - the colors pop!
I love the colors in the first photo. I agree that it looks like a zinnia to me too. Goregous
Beautifull, beautifull flowers!

Is that what a zinnia flower looks like? So pretty! And the butterfly in it made it more beautiful.
My flower photo is posted here. Hope you can pass by if you have time. Thanks!
What a fantastic photo!
I am a big fan of photos of butterflies, and that photo is stunning.

I have to say it's a Zinnia as well and yes mam the butterflies love them.
simply perfect...
Super photograph, a lovely flower and butterfly. I'm always happy when our blogging friends solve the mysteries of flowers we take. I've learned a lot through Today's Flowers.
I'd go with zinnia too. Both the flower and the butterfly are beautiful!
The same for me. I hope to learn about them from these generous people and it seems a natural transition from wildlife to plant life...A zinnia..now I learned a new one too..
Monarch and Zinnia make a great combination.
Great Photo! Yup, that's a zinnia for sure. I've always had good luck with them attracting butterflies and even the occasional hummingbird in my backyard gardens.
EB: What a wonderful capture of a neat flower and butterfly.
Ouf!! This is an amazing shot... Beautiful colors and contrast between the butterfly and the flower... Great job..
