Another dragon that was plentiful at the Bass Ponds was the eastern pondhawk. These look similar, at least the males do, to the blue dashers from the last post except that they have 2 white spike at the end of their abdomen instead of the black tip that the dashers have.

When I saw the colors on this guy - I thought he would make a nice piece of jewelry - like a pin. LOL!Thank you for my dose of dragonfly photos and education!
A quick note of appreciation for the blog and beautiful pictures. I often find myself seeking escape from the stress of raising teen age boys by seeing what is posted on your blog. You and your work have been an intigral part in inspiring me to see the beauty that surrounds my often chaotic Dakota County life. Thank you.
Both of these post are great!
I have been enjoying all the dragonfly posts. That is quite the goo that the dragonfly is standing on in the first one!
Thanks Shelley, I think that you are right, maybe something in turquoise.
Thanks anonymous. There are times when running the blog seems like a lot of work but comments like yours help make it woth it.
Thanks Leedra and NWNN. It does look pretty slimy NWNN but I did not touch it to be sure.
