Black-eyed Susan

One of the most commonly recognized wildflowers that we have around is the black-eyed Susan. This native perennial is a member of the Aster family.

They prefer lots of sun and can often be found growing in open fields and roadsides. Typically the flowers bloom from summer through into fall. I photographed these black-eyed Susan in Crex Meadows.
