Turtle Symmetry

Although predators themselves dragonflies have many things that they need to be wary of. At Dodge Nature Center the dragons have to keep an eye on the sky, where birds and other dragons are a potential threat, and the other on the water, where larger fish, frogs and turtles, like the one below, are a danger.
When they are young painted turtles are mostly carnivorous, eating mainly beetles, maggots, and larvae, including dragonfly larvae. As they get older they become more omnivorous, at this point they mainly eat fish, insects, fruit, plants, and carrion. I took this pic because I loved the symmetry between the turtle and the log.

This was good symmetry with the turtle looking up and the branch curving up - nice shot!

I like the reflections, plus doesn't everybody like turtles? I do and as a child I was bitten, and it is true they won't let go until it thunders. Thank goodness he eventually mistook my screams for thunder, or we would still be in that wet dugout crawlspace.

Thanks Shellmo and Leedra. I like turtles too, but I have some pictures of some much larger ones coming up. Good thing they did not bite me because it has been kind of dry around here lately and it is kind of hard to type with a turtle on your finger.
